Constantino Bellón 2011

At the XX Edition of the International Competition of Composition and Gaita Constantino Bellón, the jury decided to award the special mention “Gaita of Gold” to Xosé Manuel Seivane Magide, “as a craftsman and its concern for the family continuity in Galician traditional music”. The award was given at the Theater Jofre from Ferrol last 31 august, by the president of the jury Mr. Víctor Fernández Gabeiras. Xosé Manuel thanked the distinction with some excited words and shared it with all his family and colleagues, besides with all attendees. This award also was given to the patriarch Xosé Manuel Seivane Rivas in 1997 and more recently to Álvaro Seivane in 2006.

At the same event, the four generations of the Seivane´s family, gave the III Seivane Award to Xosé Antonio Constenla Martínez, this Swiss bagpiper received the gaita specially made for this occasion at the hands of Xosé Manuel Seivane Rivas, who was accompanied by his sons Álvaro and Xosé, his granddaughter Susana Seivane and his great-grandson Brais. This award was created by the Obradoiro de Gaitas Seivane to reward and encourage the dedication and love for music of the Galician bagpipers living outside Galicia.
