First Seivane Award presented in the gaita contest Constantino Bellón
The Seivane Award, created by the Obradoiro de Gaitas Seivane to reward and encourage the dedication and love for music of the Galician pipers living outside Galicia, was won in its first edition by Santiago Agustín Molina. This gaiteiro from Argentina received the award, which consists on a gaita specially made for this event, from the hands of Xosé Manuel Seivane Rivas, who was in the company of his sons Alvaro and Xosé. The Obradoiro, as underlined in the Alvaro´s brief speech after the award giving, is aware of the difficulties faced by the gaiteiros outside to get even a single reed. That is why this award is focused towards this important group without minimizing, of course, the work of gaiteiros living in Galicia.
