Last year the Frenchman Nicolas Pabois ordered from the Obradoiro de Gaitas Seivane a very special gaita, with individually turned pieces of a medieval pattern. It was not then known what they were destined for: crossing the planet to the South Pole. There, in the middle of the Antarctic, he was photographed playing the gaita, and he later sent us the photos together with this text in which he congratulated us on their quality:

“I was sent this year to a scientific base in the Antarctic, and not wanting to be separated from my gaita I took the risk of taking it with me. And even at 40 degrees below zero it didn’t go out of tune! I’m sending you some photos, hoping you like them.”

For the first time a gaita reached the Antarctic, and it was a Seivane gaita. Evocative images that reflect how far we are capable of going and the roads that we can open up and travel along.
