Galician Crafts Awards for his oustanding career to Álvaro Seivane

On Monday, December 13, 2021, at the San Francisco Monument Hotel in Santiago de Compostela, it was the ceremony of the Galician Crafts Awards. The luthier Álvaro Seivane, holder together with his brother Xosé of the Obradoiro de Gaitas Seivane, received from the hands of the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Mr. Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the Honorary Career Award, unanimously proposed by the Galician Artisan Association. Álvaro Seivane received the longest standing ovation in the history of these awards, and made the entire audience stand up in the hall after learning of the delivery of this award. The most emotional moment of the ceremony was when Susana Seivane surprised her father Álvaro by performing a tune that she composed for him, and after which, her other daughter Saínza Seivane, and her grandchildren, Brais, Fiz, Maren and Antón Seivane, appeared playing the Muiñeira do Chao, a tune composed by the great-grandfather Seivane, followed by all the workers of the Obradoiro Seivane. The basketry workshop of Idoia Cuesta (Outeiro de Rei) received the Galician Crafts Award for its piece Abisal. And Julia de la Cal, from the basketry workshop La Parabólica (O Porriño), received the Eloy Gesto Grant.
